Silver Street Motel closed after health inspections find multiple code violations

Karen Lauer, Chair of the Iron County Board of Health, opened the March 24 meeting, where the Health Department reported the continued closure of the Silver Street Motel following inspection findings.
The Health Department described multiple violations of Wisconsin Administrative Code ATCP 72 at the motel, including lack of refuse removal, absence of laundry service to provide clean linens, broken or missing door locks, and guest rooms “not maintained in clean condition.” The department characterized those conditions as creating a health and safety hazard and said the lodging facility will remain closed until the violations are corrected; the license holder has requested a hearing before the Board of Health. The board noted the county aligns local lodging fees with state changes under Ordinance 2430 and Resolution No. 2025-4004, but no fee action was required at the meeting.
