President Glenn Austin reviewed the Winn Parish Industrial Board's Articles of Incorporation, adopted in 2006, and reminded members that the board was created "to promote industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial, commercial and other enterprises to locate in Winn Parish." He noted the articles require no fewer than three and no more than seven directors with staggered terms.
Austin said he has discussed the board's history with Jim Fannin, who was instrumental in getting the board created, and "he would like to have him talk to the Board." Board members discussed possible term lengths, positions and potential candidates to fill current vacancies; no formal appointments were made at the meeting.
The board agreed to discuss potential candidates and term arrangements further. The vacancy discussion had been added to the agenda by motion earlier in the meeting and was debated informally as part of business without a vote to appoint new directors.
