St. James Parish announces Vacherie Community & Sports Complex name; Rosary Street drainage mobilizes

Parish President Peter A. Dufresne told the council that the Vacherie Multipurpose Building will be officially named the Vacherie Community and Sports Complex and that the parish will advertise for bids tomorrow. He also described plans to refurbish the Lutcher Park walking track after the Bonfire Festival, saying contractors will shave oak tree roots so no trees need removal.
On drainage, Dufresne reported a pre-construction meeting for utility relocation on the Rosary Street Drainage project and said crews are mobilizing with a notice to proceed scheduled for July 7. "The drainage project is expected to let in early August," he said, and announced the parish will host a town hall in the coming weeks to brief residents. He also noted that Graves Consulting has begun preparing a Restore grant application for $600,000 to improve drainage and the Welcome Center parking lot.
