Commissioners approve purchase of four Lifestream vans, $60,778 local match

The Jay County Board of Commissioners approved Jan. 27 the purchase of four new vans for Lifestream under a Rural Transit grant.
Kevin DeCamp, project manager, told commissioners "The total cost of for the four vans is $388,789.20 with $60,777.94 coming from local funds." The county currently operates five vans daily and will add one of the new mini-vans to county service. Commissioners approved the purchase unanimously after Duane Monroe moved and Doug Horn seconded.
County staff said the purchase will expand capacity for rural transit routes and is funded primarily through the Rural Transit grant with the local match budgeted in county accounts. The county will complete procurement and vehicle acceptance with grant reporting to follow.
