Parks board votes to recommend Phase 1 of Coyote Ridge Park to City Council

Chair Thomas moved that the board recommend City Council approve Phase 1 of the Coyote Ridge Park plans; the motion was seconded by Board member Tiffany Ball and approved unanimously.
Robin Bartling of consulting firm HPM presented the Phase 1 scope, saying the work targets accessibility and mobility improvements, an expanded inclusive playground, formalized neighborhood connections, a small plaza with a pollinator garden, accessible surfacing to replace engineered wood fiber, new ADA picnic seating, and bike racks. Bartling summarized project costs and procurement steps: "So the total budget, as I mentioned earlier, is 3,000,000. It's just shy of $4,000,000," she said, adding that the figure includes design services and a required site survey to develop construction documents for public bid.
Staff told the board the PRAB recommendation will go to council for a plan approval item on Nov. 12 and that council would consider funding on Dec. 3. Michael, a city staff member, said staff expects to issue an RFP for final design services after council action and hopes to have a consultant on board in January 2025 to support construction in 2025. The board produced a formal motion recommending council approval; Chair Thomas moved the motion and Tiffany Ball seconded it. The board voted to approve the recommendation with all listed members voting in favor.
The board thanked the HPM team for the work and will forward its recommendation and the presentation materials to City Council.
