Advisory board pushes short 'non‑user' survey after annual results show demand for expanded hours and services
Summary
Board members reviewed an annual survey that received 123 responses and agreed to pursue a short, targeted survey for residents who do not use the library, plus event‑based outreach to reach non‑users. The board scheduled outreach work and a brief 'did‑you‑know' campaign for the summer.

The Chair (S2) opened discussion of the annual online survey and members agreed to pursue a separate short survey aimed specifically at residents who do not use the library.
The Director (S5) told members the library’s annual online survey, open May 1–June 8, drew 123 responses. "We collected a 123 responses during that time period," S5 said, noting 118 were in English and 5 in Spanish. Committee members raised concerns that the existing survey sample over‑represents regular users and suggested targeted outreach to reach non‑users.
"I would like to see some time on the survey a question that asks, do you take a library? How many times have you been in the library during the last year?" said Committee member (S4), urging inclusion of usage‑frequency questions to help demonstrate to municipal decision‑makers how hours and services affect access. Members discussed decision‑tree ("smart") surveys that route respondents to different question sets depending on whether they are regular users.
Board members agreed to test short paper/postcard prompts and QR‑code cards at summer events — farmers markets, community gatherings and local businesses — and to coordinate with community partners for distribution. An action item was recorded to develop the targeted non‑user survey and outreach materials before the fall calendar review.
