Grant County accepts EMPG funding and adopts drought emergency declaration

On a unanimous vote, the Grant County Court accepted an Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) intended to partially fund the county’s emergency management position. The acceptance was moved by Judge Hamsher and seconded by Commissioner Rowell; the motion carried with all three votes in favor.
The court also unanimously adopted Resolution 26-10, declaring a drought emergency to enable access to additional resources. Court materials state the drought declaration is intended to facilitate response options and resource access. During the same agenda discussion, the court approved contract amendments and change orders to address underground heating oil contamination discovered during courthouse seismic retrofit work; the record notes the remediation will be addressed within the existing project budget and related change orders to CB Const. Inc. were approved.
