The Davenport Design Review Board approved a 60-square-foot internally illuminated cabinet sign for Miss Faye Cafe at 512 Brady Street after a staff presentation and technical questions from board members. Staff said the sign would be an aluminum-extrusion cabinet with a decorated translucent vinyl face and that it would be installed centered above an existing Hilltop Campus Village wayfinding sign to improve visibility for vehicles and pedestrians traveling north on Brady.
Jeremy of SignsNow, speaking on behalf of the petitioner, said the preferred installation method is into mortar rather than directly into original brick; when mortar is older or loose, he said sleeve anchors and lag fasteners would be used. He described the cabinet as roughly 6 inches deep to allow LED illumination and said lighting control could be provided via timer or photo cell. City staff reminded the board that sign brightness is regulated by the zoning ordinance and must be met.
Board members voted to approve the sign as submitted with no recorded amendments. Staff will follow up to ensure the installation meets structural and brightness requirements and to confirm final mounting details.
