The Arcadia Unified School District Board adopted Resolution 24-25-16 on Jan. 14, declaring the results of the Nov. 5, 2024 school bond election and establishing a consolidated citizens' oversight committee for the new Measure AS.
During staff remarks, a district presenter explained the consolidation is meant to preserve institutional knowledge by appointing existing Measure I committee members to the new committee and to ensure bond funds are spent only for voter-approved purposes. The presentation noted Measure I oversight will continue until its funds are expended and then transition to Measure AS oversight, with a 180-day consolidation timeline.
"The purpose of an oversight committee is to generally inform the public concerning the expenditures of Measure A as bonds and also to ensure that those funds are expended only for the purposes set forth in the resolution that was approved by voters," staff said during the presentation.
Board member Missus Chavez moved to adopt the resolution; Mister Ainge seconded. President Chung called for a voice vote and the motion passed 4-0. The resolution includes amended bylaws for the new consolidated oversight committee and notes employees who become district staff must step down from committee seats under the bylaws.
The board did not hear public comment on the resolution and directed staff to proceed with the committee consolidation and member appointments as described in the adopted resolution.
What happens next: staff will follow the bylaws to identify and appoint current Measure I citizens' oversight committee members to the new consolidated committee and will manage the 180-day timeline for the transition.
