The council approved a development agreement and utility-easement package to accommodate FDOT's planned divergent-diamond redesign on West Lantana Road. Town staff said three infrastructure components — including a lift-station control panel — sit in the project footprint and may need relocation.
Director Crockett and the town attorney explained that FDOT will reimburse the town approximately $61,000 for the minimum relocation and that Tidal Wave (a local business) will contribute $7,500 toward moving the control panel once easement and abandonment sequencing is complete. Town officials said an easement must be recorded to place the relocated control panel on private property, then the town will abandon the older easement once the FDOT redesign is in place.
The town attorney described coordination with the property owners and with consulting firm Baxter & Woodman on design and surveying. The council approved the agreements and instructed staff to finalize exhibit sketches and record the documents following approval; the vote was unanimous, 5-0.
Officials said the anticipated relocation of the control panel could occur within 12 to 18 months and that FDOT participation will cover the town's minimum movement costs. Tidal Wave's $7,500 contribution is due within 30 days after easement abandonment steps are in sequence.
