The Lantana Town Council on Nov. 18 voted 5-0 to accept a $150,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for improvements at Lakehead Beach. Eddie Crockett, the town's public services director, told the council the project would fund irrigation, removal of outdated light poles, parking-lot drainage repairs, a seawall reseal and the installation of salt-tolerant turf and dune restoration.
Crockett detailed the grant terms and the municipal match: "There is a 25% match from the municipality, which is a matter of $37,500," he said. Council members had no public comments and moved to authorize the Town Manager to execute the grant agreement and related documents. The motion carried unanimously.
The council packet and comments said the grant work is intended to address chronic drainage and erosion issues and to improve the dune and parking areas. Council members asked no substantive questions during the public-comment period, and staff said the town will return with standard implementation details and timelines.
