Finance Director Steven Kaplan summarized the tentative fiscal 2024–25 budget and highlighted personnel and benefit items he said are priorities for the town. "We included a cost of living adjustment for the general employees and the union members at 4%." Kaplan said the town funded both pension plans and budgeted $1,800,000 across funds for those obligations.
Kaplan told the council staff had benchmarked compensation against neighboring agencies, made minor classification changes, and re-established a tuition reimbursement and certification program. He also said the budget includes new or adjusted positions — an added police dispatcher, a library community engagement and outreach coordinator and increased part‑time hours to cover Saturday library openings — to maintain services and reduce turnover.
