The presentation emphasized safety and operational benefits, including a projected improvement from failing level‑of‑service grades to a B or C at key ramp intersections and a 30–40% reduction in crashes in the corridor segment between High Ridge and Sunset Road.
Council members asked about measurable benefits and traffic‑modeling assumptions. Lansey and staff described how the divergent‑diamond reduces signal phases from four to two, which improves throughput, and said that the design is similar in operation to the Glades Road interchange.
