Ward County shifts 2027 health-insurance planning to a 12% increase after broker updates estimate

Auditor/Treasurer Marisa Haman told the commission that 2027 health insurance premiums were originally estimated to rise 15 percent but that broker Brown and Brown now believes the increase will be closer to 11.8 percent. "They were originally estimated to have a 15% increase and Brown and Brown now believes the increase will be closer to 11.8%," the minutes state.
Commissioners voted to build the 2027 budget assuming a 12 percent health-insurance increase. The motion to set the 12% planning assumption passed on roll call with all five commissioners voting yes; the minutes record the motion as moved by Commissioner Schuler and seconded by Commissioner Olson.
