Arcadia Unified rolls out ClassWise tool, PowerSchool report card pilot and praises staff for first-day repairs

At the Aug. 27 meeting, the district’s strategy and innovation office described recent technology initiatives and an IT incident resolved just before school. Greg Kazanian said the district launched ClassWise — an extension of the LineWise internet filter — to give teachers more classroom control over student Chromebook activity including site blocking and "focus time." He said early feedback has been positive.
"ClassWise is an additional part of LineWise ... [it] allow[s] teachers to have more control over what the kids are using their Chromebooks for in their classrooms," Greg Kazanian said. The board also heard that 170 elementary teachers will pilot the PowerSchool elementary report card this year, with a planned districtwide rollout in the 2025–26 school year. Kazanian and staff thanked the TIS and facilities teams for rewiring cables at the high school overnight and restoring connectivity minutes before the first school bell.
Board members and staff discussed training timelines and parent-facing interfaces; staff said the report-card change is primarily an interface migration and does not change elementary assessment scales. The district will continue to report on piloting results and training schedules as PowerSchool is implemented more broadly.
