Blue Ridge Regional Library highlights bookmobile, summer reading and community outreach

Library staff reported bookmobile outreach, summer-reading participation and services that included Chromebooks, nature backpacks and programs; Patrick branch and Bookmobile 2025 summary statistics were presented and a veteran praised library assistance.
Melissa Chapman, representing the Blue Ridge Regional Library's Stuart branch, presented an annual impact summary and update on the Patrick Bookmobile to the Board on April 13, 2026. Chapman described services available to residents — physical collections, e-books, audiobooks, Chromebooks, databases, educational backpacks and programming — and emphasized the library's role in access and early literacy.
Chapman presented 2025 summer-reading statistics for the Patrick branch and Bookmobile: multiple programs for preschool, school-age and teen participants (examples: Patrick branch preschool attendance 97; school-age attendance 208; bookmobile total preschool/school-age attendance 172; adult participation 52). The board packet included testimonials: David Setliff, a disabled veteran, said the library staff "do a wonderful job" helping him find books that match his interests.
Chapman thanked the board and county administration for ongoing support of the Bookmobile and library services and noted plans to continue outreach and programming, including summer reading, outreach to schools and community partnerships.
