Patrick County board unanimously approves VDOT Secondary Six-Year Plan

The Patrick County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Secondary Six-Year Plan for fiscal years 2026/27 through 2031/32 and the Secondary System Construction Budget for FY2026/27 following a public hearing held April 13, 2026. Robin Keeler, VDOT Residency Administrator, recommended adoption of the plan at the hearing, which drew no public speakers.
Supervisor Jonathan Wood asked the board to add Corns Road to the Rural Rustic Road designation list before the vote. The motion to approve the plan, moved by Wood and seconded by Clayton Kendrick, carried with all members voting aye. The board also adopted a resolution authorizing the county to forward a certified copy to the Virginia Department of Transportation, consistent with state procedures.
The adoption places Patrick County's prioritized road and construction projects into VDOT's secondary system schedule for the next six years and sets the county's local construction priority list for FY2026/27. Board materials record that residents were notified of the hearing by advertisement in The Enterprise on March 11 and March 18, 2026. The hearing and vote concluded with no further public comment.
