District staff recommended and the board approved a memorandum of understanding with the California School Employees Association that provides up to 10 district-funded days for employees who were displaced or lost homes in recent Los Angeles County fires and expands personal-necessity leave usage.
HR and labor-relations staff said the MOU also creates a donation bank so employees can donate days for colleagues in need. "It provides up to 10 district funded days for employees, who were either displaced in a prolonged manner or lost to their homes," the presenting staff member said. Board members voiced appreciation for unions moving quickly to support affected employees; the motion to approve the MOU carried unanimously.
