South Fork John Day Watershed Council reports $10M in projects, secures $3.4M RCPP grant

Amy Stiner, director of the South Fork John Day Watershed Council, briefed the court on the council's 12-year restoration work and funding achievements. Stiner reported 137 completed projects using more than $10 million in cumulative funding and said the council secured $3.4 million in Regional Conservation Partnership Program funds in 2025 to continue restoration efforts, including cross-boundary forest restoration with national forest partners.
Stiner described on-the-ground projects such as juniper removal, new water developments, fencing and forest thinning aimed at improving watershed health and reducing fire hazard. She also noted the council relocated its headquarters to 353 Patterson Bridge Road in John Day to consolidate operations and improve accessibility.
