Council opened consideration of Ordinance 02‑2024, described by the mayor as an amendment to the Future Land Use element (policy LU1.1.8) that would change allowable density in the mixed‑use development category from 15 dwelling units per acre to 25.
Following procedural guidance from the town attorney that the council should open the public hearing and then move to continue the matter, council members moved to postpone the second reading until Jan. 9, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. The motion carried unanimously, 5‑0.
"For each one of the ordinances, we will be… open the hearing for ordinance 02‑2024, we're not gonna postpone the hearing. We're gonna open it, and then, it would be appropriate to then ask for a motion from one of your fellow council members to postpone 2nd reading of ordinance 02‑2024 until January 9 at 05:30 in these council chambers," the town attorney said, describing the procedure the council followed that evening.
