Lantana library wins county 'Read for the Record' award; library worker named employee of the year

The Town of Lantana received the Palm Beach County 'Read for the Record' award in the small-municipality division, and library staff described programs credited in the win, including a story-walk event, a large volunteer effort and a performance cited by the county.
Library staff recounted the story-walk and an event that featured the Palm Beach Symphony and children's activities organized by staff and volunteers. The library received a basket of books as part of the award. A staff representative thanked volunteers and highlighted contributions from named staff and community partners.
At the same meeting the council presented the town’s 2024 Employee of the Year award to Jennifer Sweetin, who staff said 'saved us during our summer reading program' and significantly boosted library statistics and patron services after joining the department in February. Sweetin accepted the surprise honor and thanked the town and her colleagues for the recognition.
