Commissioners approve 3% salary increase for eligible county employees, effective Feb. 3

Commissioner Gottwals moved and the board approved a 3% salary adjustment for all merit system employees, eligible full-time employees of constitutional officers, full-time county elected and appointed officials, and eligible employees receiving county supplements. Director of Administration Robbie Dunbar advised the effective date would be Feb. 3, 2025, and accounting was instructed to make necessary budget changes.
Mr. Byrd and Chairman Perdue praised county staff and attributed the adjustment to Houston County's sound financial condition. The motion carried with Mr. Gottwals, Ms. Robinson and Mr. Byrd voting yes; Commissioner Talton was absent.
