Houston County Commissioners approved an emergency procurement to replace six HVAC units at the Magistrate Court, awarding the bid to Wilson Bryant Air Conditioning of Macon for $57,975. Mr. Byrd presented the request and the motion passed with Mr. Byrd, Mr. Gottwals and Ms. Robinson voting yes; the purchase will be charged to the 2018 SPLOST account.
Chairman Perdue explained the purchase was time-sensitive: in addition to failing units, buying now avoids compatibility problems from an upcoming transition to a new coolant standard and ensures the new units will use the same coolant type as other county systems. The board directed accounting to make any necessary budget adjustments related to the procurement.
