Commissioners make multiple FY27 budget cuts, reserve moves and earmark clarifications

The Sublette County Board of County Commissioners on June 16 took a series of budget actions for FY27, including cuts, transfers of excess board funds to the general fund, and direction on several departmental requests.
Treasurer Paravicini reported excess funds from boards (Museum $56,910.19; Airport $35,503.00; Library $331,206.00) and the board directed the Treasurer to move those funds back to the general fund. The board removed a $70,000 vehicle reserve from the Assessor's budget and removed a $70,000 vehicle request from Maintenance; commissioners said vehicles could be addressed via budget transfer if needed. The motor grader ($543,672) in Road and Bridge was removed from the budget, and the board voted to remove a $410,000 loader from Waste Management. The board also removed $75,000 special prosecution from the commissioners' budget.
The board approved the Rec Board FY27 budget that included $12,000 for Special Olympics (new Rec proposal $556,187) and approved Visitor Center funding (FY27 $186,209). Commissioners Bradley and White reiterated the board's intent to keep the mill levy at 12; final budget adoption will occur after a July 20 budget hearing and a July 21 adoption meeting. Several departmental items (e.g., Sheriff's vehicles, fire apparatus funding) were decided during the session and are reported separately.
