Safe Harbor outlines marina upgrades, says dredging permit sought to accommodate larger vessels

Mary Kline, Business Manager for Safe Harbor Marinas, updated the Economic Development Authority on planned property improvements at Safe Harbor Stingray Point.
Kline said the marina replaced three docks and installed a new bulkhead over the winter. She said management plans to reduce the total number of slips and reconfigure the remaining slips to accommodate larger vessels, that local contractors will be used for remaining work, and that membership benefits include complimentary transient nights intended to encourage visitors to explore and support local businesses.
Kline told the board Safe Harbor has applied for dredging permits and aims to dredge the marina within the next two years; she noted the site is currently limited by a six-and-a-half-foot draft and that dredging would allow larger vessels to call at the facility and improve overall infrastructure.
