Children's Services Act report: 44 children served year-to-date; local match noted

Michelle Korns, Patrick County's CSA coordinator, briefed the board on the Children's Services Act (CSA) status through March 13. She reported the county had served 44 children year-to-date, with $900,000 in CSA spending that requires a local match of roughly $200,000.
Korns said 87.9% of children were served in community-based settings—higher than the state average at this point in the year—25 children had been served in foster care, eight had at some point gone to residential care during the year, and two children were in special‑education private day placements. "That means that CSA payments are going back to the needs of the kids here in the community," Korns summarized.
The coordinator encouraged supervisors to consult the online family guide (www.csa.virginia.gov) for more information on eligibility and process and offered to answer follow-up questions.
