Board approves $192,393.50 pavement-marking contract to increase striping coverage

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors on June 10 approved a $192,393.50 contract with Sir Lines A Lot of Lawton for annual pavement-striping and markings. County engineer Laura Sievers told the board the county will expand its annual repainting from about one-third of paved roads to one-half to improve safety and to support smart-vehicle lane-line detection.
"We're upping that to doing 0.5 of the paved roads every year," Sievers said, noting the increase will raise the line item by about $40,000 annually but that the safety benefits justify the expense. The motion to approve the contract passed unanimously, 5-0. The contract was presented as part of the secondary-roads agenda and drew no further public comment.
