Mid-year tests, quizzes and milestones: NICE students and activities update

Elementary and middle schools reported mid-year assessments and a range of student activities. Chris Marana said elementary students are completing mid-year testing and report cards will be sent home; elementary Quiz Bowl and chorus activities and a hat day fundraising event were noted. Griffin Lawson reported middle school winter NWEA testing and student events, including a reward outing and a semi-formal dance.
At the high school level, Cliff Fossitt said the semester went well, theater tech class resumed with help from NMU, and more students are leading the national anthem at home games. Athletic director Jake Skewis congratulated Ethan Marta on scoring his 1,000th point in a boys’ basketball game versus Negaunee. The high school winter formal is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2025.
