Commissioner Byrd asked the Board to pursue a Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program (GOSP) grant through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to redevelop County-owned property at the Bibb/Houston County line along Echeconnee Creek into a recreational park. The Board voted unanimously to approve signing a resolution in support of applying for the grant.
Chairman Perdue said the County already owns the property on Hwy. 247 at Echeconnee Creek and added that this is "the 2nd time the County has applied for the grant." The county is working with the Middle Georgia Regional Commission to improve the application before submission.
