Mr. Jerry Davis suggested the County consider a new one-cent local option sales tax to reduce the millage rate. Chairman Perdue said the floating homestead exemption under House Bill 581 "opened up the possibility of a Local Option Sales Tax" and that the matter might appear in the spring; he said monies raised would be used to lower the millage rate.
No ballot measure or formal proposal was introduced at the meeting; the comment was presented as a suggestion for future consideration and not a board directive.
