John Dezano of the sheriff's office told the panel the county has used the supplemental fund previously (noting use from about 2012 to 2017) and that approximately 64 deputies qualify under current guidelines. The grant was presented as a staffing/salary measure to support county deputies and passed on a unanimous 6–0 vote.
Commissioners had no additional questions on the record; the matter will be handled by the sheriff's office in coordination with county finance to implement salary supplementation under grant terms.
