Mount Holly board discusses audit and use of NEMRC financial software after treasurer’s resignation

Board members said the town was advised to undertake an audit at the end of the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer tenure. Mark Turco reported he had received that advice and Faith Tempest told the board she had spoken to an audit firm but still needed clarity on what the audit would require and how much it would cost. No audit contract or estimate was finalized at the special meeting.
The board also discussed the town’s financial software. Turco noted the town attorney was surprised Mount Holly is not using NEMRC, a financial-management package commonly used by Vermont towns, and said the software had been proposed by outgoing Treasurer Liz Karle. Jeff Chase cautioned that switching to new software could bring additional complications in the near term. The Select Board did not make a decision on software at the meeting and recorded that further information is needed before taking action.
