Edisto Beach construction board adopts updated Rules of Procedure, sets officer election to January

The Town of Edisto Beach Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals voted Jan. 14, 2026 to accept an updated Rules of Procedure. Chair Ken Huggins moved to accept the document as presented and Member Byron Briese seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board discussed and adopted several specific updates: holding officer elections at the regularly scheduled January meeting each calendar year; adopting the latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order; adding language that members’ disqualification notices must be in writing and placed in the minutes; updating the annual schedule of meetings as adopted by Town Council (with allowance for cancellations when permitted by technical code); and adding reasonable timeframes for filing appeals from administrative decisions, for withdrawing appeals, and for reopening appeals. The adopted rules will be presented to the Town attorney for review before final implementation.
