Committee approves naming wastewater facility for local liaison Michael Banks

Representative Shaw explained HB 15-35 would name a wastewater facility after Michael Banks in recognition of his work securing landowner approvals for a wastewater line project connected to a local mega site and the Mississippi River. The sponsor said Banks spent approximately 18 months persuading more than 240 landowners to permit the line under their property.
Members did not object and the measure moved forward with a positive recommendation to the Agriculture Committee (10-0). "Because Michael worked so hard on this, the community as well as the mega site authority and the county commission in Haywood County wanted to name the facility after him," Shaw said.
