Board flags traffic and service-delivery impacts of planned development near Publix

Several board members warned that upcoming development along the East Treasure/Grand View corridor — including a planned supermarket — will increase traffic and create new service challenges for North Bay Village.
"I'm curious how we can or what there is to do about that kind of concern, whether or not we need to have legislation around where Ubers and Lyfts can be or how to, help with traffic there," Committee member (S3) said, noting that ride-hailing pick-ups and deliveries can block travel lanes at busy intersections. Frank (S7) and others said existing traffic studies should address some issues but recommended designing pull-out spaces, circulators and drop-off zones as part of the development plan.
Members asked staff to check existing traffic studies filed with development permits and to coordinate with developers on circulation, pickup/drop-off locations and transit options; they also flagged the need to assess impacts on police, sanitation and other service delivery as building occupancy increases.
