Committee advances bill to create APDS awareness day on Oct. 1

Chairman Slater described APDS (Activated PI3K Delta Syndrome) as a rare primary immunodeficiency caused by an overactive pathway that can leave patients susceptible to frequent and severe respiratory infections, and said HB 14-92 would declare October 1 as APDS Awareness Day in Tennessee.
Committee members had no questions and voted 10-0 to advance the bill to the Health Committee. "The intent of House Bill 14 92 is to raise awareness for activated P13K, Delta syndrome, and to bring attention to Tennesseans suffering from this disease," Slater said during his presentation.
