Milbank tentatively awards Runway 13 turnaround reconstruction bids, contingent on FAA grants

Council moved to tentatively award Bid Schedule A (Storm Sewer Outfall Line) to J&J Earthworks, Inc. of Milbank, SD, in the amount of $274,811.40; that award is contingent on receipt of an FAA Grant Officer. The motion carried 6-0.
Council later approved a tentative award for Bid Schedule B, B1 and B2 (Runway Turnaround Reconstruction) to Webster Scale, Inc. (Webster, SD) in the amount of $459,505.55, also contingent upon FAA grant confirmation (motion by Mike Hanson; second by John Weyh; carried 6-0). The minutes list other bidders and amounts for comparison. Bob Babcock noted the bids were competitive and lower than their estimates and stated the project will be financed at approximately 95% federal funds, 2.5% state funds and 2.5% local funds upon grant award.
