Chair Dennis Steadman reported that the Environmental Protection Agency and other external funding options for the Phase 2 environmental safety assessment did not come through. He said the committee has explored alternatives but none are viable and described the Phase 2 assessment as required before serious restoration work can proceed.
"This project is not an, discretionary 1. It's not an optional 1. It's a necessity to move forward with preservation and renovation of these buildings," Steadman said as he moved that the committee recommend township funding for the Phase 2 assessment. The motion was seconded, carried by voice vote, and the chair said he would draft the recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for expedited consideration so restoration work can continue.
