Members discussed the legal structure for accepting donations. Emily Nolan is preparing draft language with town lawyers to create a donation fund under RSA that would accept contributions with specified donor intent. The committee flagged several outstanding legal and logistical questions: whether the town can accept PayPal or other online payments or if a manual process will be required; RSA restrictions on using funds for operating costs versus infrastructure; and whether an external vehicle such as the Tamworth Foundation should be used if the town cannot accept online contributions.
Next steps include finalizing and distributing the fundraising letter, awaiting Nolan’s legal guidance, developing a visual rendering of the proposed charger installation for outreach materials, and continuing business-level fundraising outreach. Multiple committee members were assigned follow-up tasks and a timeline to begin direct-mail solicitation in the coming weeks.
