The Board of County Commissioners on March 4 approved staffing a seasonal legal intern in the County Attorney’s Office as a cost-neutral effort to recruit future prosecutors.
HR Director Gary McClain said the intern position "does not require any additional funding" and can be funded from existing vacancy-related budget lines. County Attorney Danny Airmosby added the internship is a long-term pipeline strategy: "One of the avenues that seems to hold some promise ... is to see if we can identify some interns that are coming out of school that are interested in working in the department." He said the county has attracted internship interest nationally but faces challenges keeping graduates in Wyoming.
Commissioners noted the office has had vacancies and supported the approach; the motion to staff the seasonal intern passed unanimously.
