Southwest Counseling reports ARPA-funded renovations nearly underway; county told it may return ~$832,000 to state

Melissa Ray Marchetti, CFO for Southwest Counseling Services (speaker 18), and Public Works Director Jean Legurski (speaker 6) updated the board on ARPA-funded building projects. They said roughly $3.1 million in funds were awarded across four projects; three projects have started and one (the Jonah modular) lacked inflationary funding and required a cut that may leave needed components—most notably a parking lot—unfunded.
Legurski told commissioners the group expects to return about $832,000 to the state unless the county and state permit reallocation across projects. "If we can just use all of that plus 14,000 from the other ones we don't have to pay for the project at all," he said describing internal re-budgeting options. Commissioners asked for follow-ups and acknowledged the county will try to advocate for reallocation before returning funds.
