Commissioners approve three budget resolutions including $6.5 million capital reallocation

At the January 7 meeting the board unanimously approved three budget-related resolutions on the public hearing portion of the agenda.

Accounting specialist Rebecca Romero (speaker 12) explained the first resolution, 25-01-CL-01, increases the clerk's office operating budget by $70,882.50 to cover a previously approved ClearGov service order. "This budget amendment will cover the increase for the ClearGov service order that we approved at the last meeting," Romero said. With no public testimony the commission approved the resolution on a unanimous voice vote.

The board then approved Resolution 25-01-CL-02, a $649.99 transfer moving money from the county attorney's operating budget to small capital expenditures; Romero told the board this would not affect general fund reserves. Finally, the commission approved Resolution 25-01-CL-03 to move $6,500,000 from the Road & Bridge capital project into Facilities Maintenance Building and Improvement line items; Romero and staff clarified that the line items were being corrected and reallocated. All votes were unanimous.

Why it matters: The capital reallocation shifts a large sum of budgeted capital funding between projects and will affect how county facilities projects are funded during the year. The clerk and county attorney adjustments are operational housekeeping tied to prior approvals.

Next steps: Staff will implement the approved budget changes and update the financial records; the board did not discuss further amendments at this meeting.
