High school reports uptick in on-track rates and describes mentoring workaround after Aspire cuts

High school administrators updated the board on student attendance, MTSS OnTrack data and mentoring supports. They said December had 80 students with perfect attendance but overall attendance dipped about 3% from November, which staff described as seasonal; staff also emphasized finals week and upcoming J-term planning.
OnTrack MTSS snapshots taken at the district meeting showed class-level improvements: "Seniors jumped from 90% to a 100% on track," the administrator reported, and other cohorts also showed gains (juniors to 85.0 from 78, sophomores from 74.6 to 83, freshmen from 82.6 to 91). Administrators cautioned the data are preliminary and may change as finals conclude.
Board and staff discussed the Aspire mentoring program: the Aspire coordinator position was cut last spring, and the district is partnering with an external mentor (Gordy, a former swim coach at William University) and using Rosie Golden (identified in discussion as the transition specialist) to coordinate mentor contacts and pull seniors into meetings for college and career planning. Staff also described study-hall supports, upcoming science fair activities and behavior-matrix work to clarify expectations across grade bands.
