Commissioners asked whether the extension would be automatic; staff clarified it would not be automatic and that the commission would review projects at the 24-month mark to determine viability before staff recommended extensions beyond the initial term. The commission approved the change; staff noted that a code change may be necessary to align Metro code with the longer initial term, and that future amendments beyond the 36-month initial term would still require council approval.
