Brandon Wiggins of the Carroll County Emergency Management Agency told commissioners the county's hazard mitigation plan must be updated every five years to remain eligible for FEMA mitigation grants and to document past storm impacts and proposed steps to reduce future losses. He requested the board adopt the updated plan so the county and its municipalities can submit the plan to FEMA.
"We do this update every 5 years, required by FEMA," Wiggins said. The chair confirmed the item will be on the August business agenda and noted it will not be placed on the consent agenda, allowing commissioners to vote after public notice and any questions are addressed.
