Summary
Council approved a resolution to replace 72 boiler tubes at the municipal service center; staff clarified the item was not single-source but was handled via quotes because specialized vendors are limited.

Council member Kelly asked why the boiler tube replacement was listed as a single-source purchase. Sean Cholick of Facilities and Fleet Management said staff solicited quotes from three vendors, received two responses and selected Nolan Boiler & Tank Services as the lowest quote; the single-source label in the packet was likely a typo. "We wound up going out for quotes instead of going out with a full blown bid just because there's only so many companies that do this kind of boiler work," Cholick said.
After the clarification, the committee approved resolution 137 R 26 to replace 72 boiler tubes by a 6–0 roll call vote. The Facilities department said the work is being scheduled with the aim of completing repairs before winter.
