Trevor, responding to the commission's request for an explanation, said the additional work was to consolidate monitoring into a single programmable logic controller (PLC). "So we have to monitor, a lot of water levels, turbidity, pH, temperature, things like that," Trevor said, adding that Westech had assumed the county would install separate PLCs while county staff expected the master PLC to include those functions.
Commissioners said it made sense to keep monitoring in one PLC rather than split functionality across systems. The change order was described as being funded through the NBA with CIB and ARPA funding noted in the discussion. A motion to approve the change order was made and seconded; the commission recorded affirmative votes and the motion carried.
Next steps: the county will sign the change order proposal with Westech so the vendor can execute the programming and controls modifications. The commission did not request additional public hearings on this item.
"It makes sense to have it all in 1 PLC rather than having 2 of them," Trevor said during the explanation.
