Staff to draft regional hazard workbook so Eureka remains FEMA-eligible

Shay told the council the regional hazard mitigation plan must be updated every five years and that adopting the plan by resolution helps communities remain eligible for some FEMA disaster-relief funds. She said many communities were unsure how to complete the required hazard workbook, so she planned to fill out the workbook for Eureka and send a draft for review.
"So I'll fill that out for Eureka, and then I'll just have to send it to you for review and approval," Shay said, asking that members with expertise in flood and wildfire risk review the draft when available. Council members agreed that staff should prepare the initial workbook and that the council would review and, if appropriate, adopt the plan via resolution to maintain FEMA funding eligibility.
