At the second reading, staff reported council previously directed pursuit of the YMCA renovation and a plan to fund the project through a debt issuance of $7,000,000 at an appropriate future time. Eric Davis told council "there's been no changes from the 1st reading." One council member recused themself because of a conflict with the general contractor; the council then approved the 2nd reading by voice vote.
Separately, the council considered a contract with Edison Ford LLC for renovation work on the Fort Mill YMCA. Carrie Vargo presented the contract, stating the award amount: "Attached for council's review and consideration is a contract with Edison Ford LLC for the Fort Mill YMCA renovation project in the amount of $6,865,000." The contract scope includes roof system replacement, curtain wall replacement, natatorium HVAC replacement, structural coatings and other improvements; substantial completion is required within 300 calendar days after notice to proceed. Council approved the contract by voice vote.
