Council reduces Class A1 liquor licenses after La Cantina closure
Summary
Council approved an ordinance reducing Class A1 liquor licenses to 25 after La Cantina ceased operations; staff said interested parties can apply to the liquor commission for additional licenses in the future.
The council on Aug. 19 approved ordinance 24-10-17, which reduces the number of Class A1 liquor licenses to 25 following the closure of La Cantina at the end of July.
City staff summarized the change: "Staff is recommending approval of the, ordinance reducing the number of class a 1 liquor licenses to 25. La Cantina ceased operation at the end of July and therefore, this ordinance will remove that license from the city's inventory." Staff added that interested parties may apply to the liquor commission and that council could approve additional licenses in the future. Council voted 7-0 on the second reading to adopt the ordinance.
